Treasures of Mary's Heart

Treasures of Mary's Heart is a dramatic, multi-media interpretation of what Mary might have experienced from the conception of Jesus to His birth as she struggled to understand her place in God’s grand story. The program includes worship, scripture readings, art, dance and dramatic monologue from a young Mary. A dessert reception will follow the program. Men and women of all ages are invited to attend this special event!

Walk Through Bethlehem

Two Nights: Friday, December 6 | 6:30-8:30pm Saturday, December 7 | 6:00*-8:30pm Imagine taking a guided tour through the streets of Bethlehem and experiencing the age-old story of Jesus' birth! Meet the shepherds, hear the angels on the hill singing and strolling carolers from the National Christian Choir, interact with Roman soldiers, pet the animals in the manger, and much, much more! This FREE event begins with a short musical program inside, followed by hot cocoa and cider to prepare you for the hayride to a recreated village on part of our 70+ acre campus, complete with over 200 actors and dozens of live animals. What you need to know: Due to the high volume of traffic, we recommend you arrive early and expect to be delighted while you wait in the queue with Damascus Road Christmas carolers and other activities! Dress warmly! This is a rain-or-shine event so dress appropriately. Strollers are not permitted due to safety concerns. This event is absolutely free, however, donations of canned goods to help fill our local food pantry, Mount Airy Net, will be warmly welcomed.

Christmas Festival

Bring your family and invite your friends to enjoy a holiday festival. Breakfast with Santa Enjoy an all-you-can-eat, buffet-style breakfast, and have photos taken with Santa Claus. This annual event is hosted by the United Methodist Men. Freewill donations support our Appalachia Service Project youth mission team. Santa Secret Shop (8:30-11:30 a.m.) Children ages 4-12 shop for specially-prepared gifts (averaging $5) for all family members, including pets. Cash & checks only. Presents will be wrapped in tissue and placed in gift bags. Bring a large shopping bag for each child. Puppets Empowering People (P.E.P.) Christmas Show (9:00 & 10:00 a.m) These events are sponsored by Oakdale Church's United Methodist Men and Women ministries in support of youth missions and the UMW Scholarship Fund.

The Christmas Spectacular is back! Catch the spirit of Christmas with this free holiday concert on Dec 7 at 4pm. Bring your family, and invite your friends to this first come, first serve, Sounds of the Season! The nationally recognized ProMusica and New England Youth Ensemble will perform this annual Christmas worship tradition of musicians and vocalists uniting in song and spirit! Visit FrederickAdventistChurch.org ProMusica was established in 1967 by the late Paul Hill, director of the famed Paul Hill Chorale. It has appeared in numerous prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the National Gallery of Art, and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as in other leading concert halls and cathedrals internationally. Under the leadership of its newly appointed director, Anwar Ottley, the choir from Washington Adventist University strives to continue the legacy and standard of excellence for which it has become known. The New England Youth Ensemble (NEYE), founded in 1969 by Dr. Virginia-Gene Rittenhouse is one of the most internationally traveled Youth/Student Orchestras in America. In 1994 the NEYE became the resident orchestra of Washington Adventist Universityntist University and has since continued to enjoy wide-spread critical acclaim. The NEYE mission is simple: to bring great music to a searching world that is performed, in the words of J.S. Bach, “to the Glory of God and the Refreshment of the Spirit."

Settle in for an evening or afternoon of seasonal music guaranteed to put you in the holiday mood. Graceful secular carols and festive favorites are on the program for two performances only. Purchase your tickets online or at the door. Children 14 and under are FREE. The New Dominion Choraliers will be joined by the lively and beautiful dancers from Dance Etc. School of the Arts. The choral program will be enhanced by special performances from NDC's talented vocalists, and by the instrumental accompaniment of many talented local musicians of Legacy Brass.
