Health Minute: Summer Skin Safety Series Part 2
In part 2 of our Summer Skin Safety Series with Adventist HealthCare family medicine physician Dr. Avni Jain, we learned some tips for taking care of our skin as summer begins. The most important tip for taking care of your skin is to wear sunscreen if you are outside, even on days when the sun isn’t out and in the winter. UV rays are always present,
an SPF of 30 or higher is recommended. Also, be aware if you’re taking any medications that could cause you to be more sensitive to the sun. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about what side effects to watch for.
The sun is also most intense between 10 in the morning until about 2 p.m. so try to stay out of the sun during those times.
