Health Minute: Summer Skin Safety Series Part 4
In part 4 of our series on summer skin safety, Dr. Avni Jain, Adventist HealthCare family medicine physician, talks about heat exhaustion. As it heats up, what should we do to stay safe from the heat? We should protect ourselves from the sun but also the heat to prevent heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Make sure you are getting enough water, limit outdoor activity on very hot days, wear loose, lightweight, light colored clothing that doesn’t retain heat and stay inside during the hottest part of the day. We should also check on any friends, family or neighbors that could be at risk for a heat related illness.
