National Women’s Health and Fitness

Just last week, we celebrated National Women’s Health and Fitness Day, a nation-wide effort to promote healthy living for women of all ages. Women tend to take care of everyone else and put their own health on the back burner. Try these tips to put your health first!


Being sick isn’t the only reason to see your doctor. Your annual physical is an important opportunity to check in with your provider. Your Well Women’s Exam is the first step in preventing, diagnosing and managing chronic conditions, including:


  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes or prediabetes
  • Heart disease,
  • High Cholesterol, and much more


Although heart disease is often thought of as a problem for older men, it affects women at a startlingly high rate. 90 percent of women have one or more risk factors for developing heart disease. One way to help manage these conditions and keep yourself healthy is to:


  • Exercise regularly, at least three days per week
  • Eat a healthy diet that is low in sugar, sodium and saturated fats and high in vegetables, whole-grains and lean protein
  • Manage stress through prayer, a hobby or talking with a healthcare provider.
