Spencer- My pick for this weekend is our Washington Mystics. There are only a few more home games left in the season. They are in first place in the  Eastern Division and may be on their way to their first WNBA Championship. The Mystics play the Indiana Fever this Sunday at 3pm.  For more information click here.

Jerry-One of Tchaikovsky's most famous pieces is the "1812 Overture."   The grand finale was written to stir your emotions and it's supposed to send with live cannon fire.  I'm guessing you've never seen it that way, and neither have I, but that can all change this weekend.  The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" is having their annual family-friendly 1812 Overture Concert.  It's on Saturday, August 17th at 8:00 p.m. at Summerall Field in Fort Myer, Virginia, which is near Arlington National Cemetery.  Miss America Nia Franklin will also be singing, and yes the performance finale will wrap up with live cannon fire. Becky-It’s a bit younger than Prince George’s County Fair, but since 1949 the Montgomery County Fair has been a fixture in the community. The fair is located on 62 acres in Gaithersburg and it’s amazing it can fit in the midst of the city. There are 50 buildings filled with more than 5,000 animals! I asked my 15 year old son if he would you like to go. He asked why and I said, because you can get things like Funnel Cake, corn dogs the size of your ARM, and fried oreos (well, a LOT of stuff deep fried)! After that he agreed the fair is a good idea! You will have to pay an entrance fee and for on site parking. For more information click here. Ends Saturday.

The Arlington County Fair is going on too. And it’s free! They’ve got some of the traditional fair type foods and stuff that borders on more HEALTHY - like GOAT yoga stretches, PIE eating contest, and Butterfly Expo!! For more information click here.
