Morning show weekend picks

Jerry....If you love books, this is the event for you.  The annual Library of Congress Book Festival is happening at the Washington Convention Center.  There are all sorts of books for all ages, plus some pretty cool celebrity guests.  This year chef Jose Andres, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg , historian Henry Louis Gates Jr.  and cartoonist Raina Telgemeier will all be on the main stage.  There will over 140 authors on site and it will be a reader’s paradise.  There will be special stages for kids, teens, non-fiction, history, fiction, science and a bunch more as well as a lot of author signings.   This event is free. Blanca...If you like music and you’re planning on staying home this Labor Day weekend, take a trip to the Capitol!

On Sunday, September 1st, the National Symphony Orchestra will perform on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol.  It’s FREE!  You have two chances to see them: (the first one is best, if you have small children) once during the public rehearsal at 3:30pm, and then the formal show at 8pm.  Gates will open at 3pm.  Spencer...Next spring, the largest Legoland in the world is scheduled to open in Goshen, N.Y.  You can get a taste of Legoland New York  the next four days at National Harbor. You can see all kinds of Lego related things including models and see the cars used for Legoland driving school. On Sunday there will be a showing of The Lego Movie 2 The second Part on a BIG movie screen along the Potomac. This event is free!!! For more information click here
