Jerry's Pick

It's not too late to celebrate the Lunar New Year.  This weekend the Smithsonian American Art Museum is teaming up with the  Chinese Embassy for some special events.  You can see Chinese ribbon dancing, acrobatic yo-yoing and an interactive magic show.   There will also be artists from Shenzhen, China demonstrating ink finger-printing, wood printing and how to make shadow puppets and dough figures.  There will also be paper cutting, envelope making and calligraphy demonstrations as well as an art scavenger hunt. This all happens at the Smithsonian American Art Museum Kogod Courtyard on 8th and G Streets Northwest in DC starting at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday.  Find the full schedule of events here.

My pick is the Super Bowl. I think they pre game show starts in like an hour but they game will kick off at 6:30PM EST on Fox5 here in DC. It's the Kansas City Chiefs vs the San Francisco 49ers. This should be a great game but for those of you that don't like football they will have the brand new commercials and a half time show with JLo and shakira. As a golf lover this is one of the biggest weekends in the area. It's like Christmas all over again. The Washington Golf and Travel Show will be at the Dulles Expo Center, South Hall today, tomorrow and Sunday. There'll be tons of golf clubs, equipment and accessories, travel opportunities, interactive activities and competitions.

Let's face it... Super Bowl Sunday is all about the food, right?  Kids can get a hands on experience learning to make meatballs. Yummy!  Before the event, everyone will enjoy a Maggiano's Breakfast Buffet and coloring activities. Oh, and... Kids will receive their own Chef Hat and Apron to take home. Cool, huh?! There is a fee for both parent and child BUT you get a coupon for your carryout order placed that day. Recommended for kids ages 4-12.
