Did you know that Alexandria, Virginia was President George Washington's adopted hometown? The city takes the honor quite seriously by not just celebrating his birthday on one day, but by taking the entire month of February to celebrate. One of the highlights is the largest George Washington Birthday parade in the country. It's this Monday, February 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in downtown Alexandria. All of the museums in Old Town Alexandria will also be open so you can see what life was like around the time of Washington. The parade is free to everyone. There is regular admission charged to the museums, but Alexandria residents are free. Learn more at www.washingtonbirthday.com.
