Flower Mart at Washington National Cathedral

An 84-year-old tradition returns to the Washington National Cathedral this weekend.  The Flower Mart has dozens of vendors selling orchids, bonsai, ornamental plants, and everything you need to grow them successfully.  And it’s not just flowers.  There’s an 1890 carousel, carnival games, puppet shows, and live performances from choirs and dancers.  And of course, there are dozens of varied flower displays.  You can also buy tickets to climb the stone stairs to take in one of the best views of DC.  In addition to flowers the market also offers clothing, jewelry, housewares, and a number of food vendors in the Bishop’s Garden.  Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free; there are charges for some activities, including the carousel and tower climbs

Summer's Pick

As someone who always thought they would be a missionary overseas, being in the DMV with all its diversity is beyond exciting. Did you know there are HUNDREDS of embassies here??? (You probably did). Did you know they do special events and when you visit you are technically visiting that  country??? (You probably did). Did you know that this Saturday you can tour a whole big bunch of them and make a day of it??? (Well now you do). The annual Around the World Embassy Tour is happening tomorrow (Saturday, May 6) from 10-4:30. Learn more here:
