Blossom Kite Festival on the National Mall

Every year thousands of people gather on the National Mall to fly kites at the Washington Monument.  The Blossom Kite Festival draws people from everywhere and kites of all shapes and sizes.  Professional kite-flying team Windjammers will be here from Michigan to put on a kite show set to music.  Each pilot flies up to 12 kites at once in crazy formations.  There is also other entertainment from the Sakura Taiko Fest at Sylvan Theater featuring traditional Japanese drumming.  There’s a special family area of the field with kids’ activities like kite-making, face painting, and painting.  Best of all, it’s all free. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, but because of the weather it’s been moved to Sunday from10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Washington Monument.
