When I was a kid I dreamed of living in Washington DC. I was hooked the first time I came to visit this city on an Elementary School field trip.

After high school, I packed up my VW Rabbit and drove from Pennsylvania to begin college in Takoma Park, MD. A lot happened over the course of the next few years. My mom died of Multiple Myeloma during my Sophomore year. Three months later, my dad had a heart attack and passed.

Those were pretty devastating years - I felt lost and alone. I took a few years off to work and to pray a lot about what God had planned for my life. That’s when He led me into Communications and Broadcasting. It took a couple of years, but finally I began seeing the purpose God was preparing me for.

I worked as a traffic reporter for several stations in the DC market, and even though it wasn’t quite as lucrative, the rewards of working in this format were so much greater. I felt like I was helping to get the message of hope in Jesus out there.

I graduated from Washington Adventist University in 1997, where I met my husband. We married in 1998, and shortly after I was brought on as one of the first full time employees at WGTS after the format flip from classical music to Christian music in 1997.

There is never a dull moment at this job - and that’s what I love about it! It’s so exciting to hear stories of how God is moving in people’s lives. That’s what motivates me still today.  I believe we’re all on this journey called life together. And our job is to encourage each other to keep on keepin on through the ups and downs.

I know I easily get bogged down with stress, worry, and anxiety.

I enjoy hanging out with my guys – my husband and 2 boys – my oldest of whom is quickly getting taller than me! (Where does time go?!)
