An update regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)
In light of the recent changes made by the World Health Organization regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the steps some local governments are taking to curb non-essential gatherings, and weighing our desire to help the those in need through Operation: Fill the Pantry with the responsibility to keep our listeners, donors, volunteers and employees safe, WGTS has decided to postpone upcoming Operation: Fill the Pantry stops until further notice. We are continuing to monitor local, state, and federal agencies as we plan for upcoming events and will resume Sticker Stop events at a later date.
Thanks to you, over 5,000 pounds of food have been donated so far to feed families in our local communities. In the meantime, if you are shopping for your household, we encourage you to pick up a couple extra cans of food and give them to your local food bank. Here is a list of organizations WGTS currently works with:
Although there is no vaccine for COVID-19, the CDC recommends some everyday preventative actions:
Wash your hands often, especially before eating (for at least 20 seconds)
If soap and water aren’t available, clean hands with hand sanitizer (containing at least 60% alcohol).
Don’t touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. If you need to touch your face, make sure your hands are clean.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing.
Try to avoid contact with people who are sick.
If you are sick, stay home, unless you need medical care.
We are regularly checking resources such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization, and will continue to monitor any new development. Information and practices are changing during this rapidly evolving situation and we will continue to follow national guidelines.
While there is a lot about COVID-19 that is still unknown, we know that personal hygiene is of critical importance. Our overall goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for listeners and donors.
