You can get an exemption from shoveling snow off of your sidewalk if you are older or disabled
(Washington, DC) -- If you’re someone who is a senior citizen or you have a disability, you can get an exemption from shoveling snow off of your sidewalk. The D.C. Department of Public Works has started a special program for those who are over 65 or have a disability. Right now the law says your sidewalk has to be clear within eight hours of a snowstorm. Now you can apply for a two-year exemption that goes through December 20222. The deadline to apply is on Sunday, and you can take care of this by visiting d-p-w-dot-dc-dot-gov.
